Here's a post that I have on the <a href="http://birdsofafeatherkitco.ning.com/profiles/blog/list" target="_blank">BOAF Blog</a> today....<br />
<br />
Hey there, everyone!! It's Tuesday and here at BOAF, that means it's time for a tutorial!<br /><br />One of my favorite elements of this kit is the sweet little doilys! They are so dainty and cute! I wanted to make one of those little doily dress cards that I've seen on Pinterest, so I decided to figure it out.<br /><br />First, start with your doily face down and fold it almost in half:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1Tujs4qjSxaIsUoMLuqV4pK5KvjWQC29IOrEDkR8zmeF2Z9jD85YEGbnmxWEzllUteMV0ZvKvJqb_8AjsaUb1rXPZR5SNt2MvAYkoEgdwz5kmWP7ClA2IKp9-qh__cY7B9gOci7AOJk0/s1600/Doily+Dress+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1Tujs4qjSxaIsUoMLuqV4pK5KvjWQC29IOrEDkR8zmeF2Z9jD85YEGbnmxWEzllUteMV0ZvKvJqb_8AjsaUb1rXPZR5SNt2MvAYkoEgdwz5kmWP7ClA2IKp9-qh__cY7B9gOci7AOJk0/s1600/Doily+Dress+1.jpg" height="333" width="400" /></a></div>
<a href="http://api.ning.com/files/8XZ9tNduvb1keQwWw-2hmcykc41eU1VXEGrYuyhwGzuvqujuq9ff3wiynNmKbhnIG5-MxRm1GGmAlcX0icg9uO--fGXutiVH/DoilyDress1.jpg" target="_self"></a><br />
Now fold one third of the doily over:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKb1dUqjDYXDstxuOnMrt1Cdtubl7Yt8MUmhenywVbBc516iPH4DQzXF1VhrAELLE28RgHRofqgtRkJseYax0F5QlgevKLb53RN2u2GURxxVMNfOCg2AxBk35NVDht_PWo0sT3Bki6wlw/s1600/Doily+Dress+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKb1dUqjDYXDstxuOnMrt1Cdtubl7Yt8MUmhenywVbBc516iPH4DQzXF1VhrAELLE28RgHRofqgtRkJseYax0F5QlgevKLb53RN2u2GURxxVMNfOCg2AxBk35NVDht_PWo0sT3Bki6wlw/s1600/Doily+Dress+2.jpg" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Fold the third on the other side over and adhere it down.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEBpfM9AFffGVeljz70iflonTlXsclRS_Zn8mFJPpV1N8drZ2eyWvVPVxlnc3rYRCyzc8JHn6tqtkgI_R1E-RqadctNEizAmgWnh30UZMzkNd9VBtO3O5vuNA5NHY21Sw3Uz7JKD8WuhM/s1600/Doily+Dress+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEBpfM9AFffGVeljz70iflonTlXsclRS_Zn8mFJPpV1N8drZ2eyWvVPVxlnc3rYRCyzc8JHn6tqtkgI_R1E-RqadctNEizAmgWnh30UZMzkNd9VBtO3O5vuNA5NHY21Sw3Uz7JKD8WuhM/s1600/Doily+Dress+3.jpg" height="335" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Fold the point down and adhere it:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijLPGgNU8xTLasWYyhdm6uuUatGTuqKq2wf1g__JMH00wPmstRbxlgGqE73B0BAs8_8SYQheKlfEeEYD_17Kc1OlimrXlaJVEpKK0ZsGkEvhr9CAKwBnaSpsl-LWqgFaG_7CMF37T_jjk/s1600/Doily+Dress+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijLPGgNU8xTLasWYyhdm6uuUatGTuqKq2wf1g__JMH00wPmstRbxlgGqE73B0BAs8_8SYQheKlfEeEYD_17Kc1OlimrXlaJVEpKK0ZsGkEvhr9CAKwBnaSpsl-LWqgFaG_7CMF37T_jjk/s1600/Doily+Dress+4.jpg" height="308" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Now, make the top of your dress. Adhere a doily to a piece of cardstock. I used white, but a color might look cool, too. You need to do this because the doily won't punch well without it. Once it's adhered to the cardstock, cut it with a heart punch.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtJ4oVJM6-WqW0F5ry60oT8z4qSTUOIM9AEolUQTCnrzloa4zre0nOSdwkih_6jb4WAMhPV7C0Wv6pp2eYMB6_GaRcvXqPZ2Nan8PcWmGRue4jI8uOkE6p21qj0UyBOF7XpGBFkaDHlzU/s1600/Doily+Dress+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtJ4oVJM6-WqW0F5ry60oT8z4qSTUOIM9AEolUQTCnrzloa4zre0nOSdwkih_6jb4WAMhPV7C0Wv6pp2eYMB6_GaRcvXqPZ2Nan8PcWmGRue4jI8uOkE6p21qj0UyBOF7XpGBFkaDHlzU/s1600/Doily+Dress+5.jpg" height="362" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Now, use a little adhesive to stick the bottom of the dress over the bottom of the heart as shown.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgN2EkgpcGcapjB2-puuzmKgjVr7F90pYq43TYabL8AAYzRCEMxjVQxecjTXmJAP3-CtfnUMj7tY3EZjYTimIb57aqWnvX-cF1anNYbtWfZlukaNfcMzPmbIJh8QrAhSeUMTm5975K3aQI/s1600/Doily+Dress+6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgN2EkgpcGcapjB2-puuzmKgjVr7F90pYq43TYabL8AAYzRCEMxjVQxecjTXmJAP3-CtfnUMj7tY3EZjYTimIb57aqWnvX-cF1anNYbtWfZlukaNfcMzPmbIJh8QrAhSeUMTm5975K3aQI/s1600/Doily+Dress+6.jpg" height="400" width="373" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Now, add a color "belt" to hide where the two pieces together. Most of them I've seen done with ribbon, but I wanted red and didn't have a thin enough ribbon, so I used some patterned paper from the kit and a sweet little red flower that's from the kit, as well.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKoOcsJVEqeuloBNY6KDHbY1gxg-uA3YSB5yQU22sFHTn9sBQlY5Iauq8V3hbvwmhME3Zp4gq9-o4LEnsO2rqkDjT0u1E3TXWkQwOMGxV5tA5HRxfAPxTACND3GCzkuZMSK2UfBuzUxU8/s1600/Doily+Dress+7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKoOcsJVEqeuloBNY6KDHbY1gxg-uA3YSB5yQU22sFHTn9sBQlY5Iauq8V3hbvwmhME3Zp4gq9-o4LEnsO2rqkDjT0u1E3TXWkQwOMGxV5tA5HRxfAPxTACND3GCzkuZMSK2UfBuzUxU8/s1600/Doily+Dress+7.jpg" height="400" width="365" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Now, your dress is done, just add it to your project! I wanted to keep my card really simple so that the focus stays on the sweet little dress. I used some of the little wooden pieces from the kit extras for the sentiment. I dabbed a little white paint on them so they would match a bit better. The gold pieces in each corner are from the gold thickers that are available as kit extra, as well.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5pvPdtEFWT8YWKreshEoUhE3Vl_vXlGw4_tuPHm5p_Bvq-x7B_iO2KR9IZfKnUB58LiFJ1Di5Zql_63QuZxD0MX8wKhsMtiJnjBdSzkKStmxaIMAqspTQ9WzIJe3ijwCfhYydsKRB4rw/s1600/Doily+Dress+Card.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5pvPdtEFWT8YWKreshEoUhE3Vl_vXlGw4_tuPHm5p_Bvq-x7B_iO2KR9IZfKnUB58LiFJ1Di5Zql_63QuZxD0MX8wKhsMtiJnjBdSzkKStmxaIMAqspTQ9WzIJe3ijwCfhYydsKRB4rw/s1600/Doily+Dress+Card.jpg" height="400" width="333" /></a></div>

Thanks so much for stopping by tonight! I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and that you're inspired to try one for yourself! If you don't have your <a href="http://birdsofafeatherkitco.com/item_1228/February-2014-Kit.htm" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">February kit</a> yet, there's only ONE left! Hurry if you want to make it yours!Nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15316012920981131339noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169625517026210068.post-21031035060656606802014-02-16T19:01:00.002-05:002014-02-16T19:01:30.223-05:00Loving the BOAF February Kit!Hey there, everyone!! Here's the post I have up on the <a href="http://birdsofafeatherkitco.ning.com/" target="_blank">BOAF Blog</a> today!<br />
<br />
I'm so excited to finally share my first projects with the incredible February kit! It's so full of incredibly beautiful papers and embellishments! I wouldn't call it a Valentine theme... I'd call it a LOVE theme! I've really enjoyed cutting into it and playing!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://api.ning.com/files/aq07GQXjwH0nAmEM1eA8ntcfmF1JyjR8S5Is8CEg*hcWGKXB*i5TKM*y88Q3pJv56SonXM0Pqi4QVABJisWlSLOABYzypdev/LoveCard.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_self"></a><br /></div>
Usually I share my layout first, but today I want to share my card first! I knew that I really wanted to feature one of the awesome doilies, so I started with one of those as my center. Then, I added a few layers and used one of the sweet wood pieces from the extra embellishments as my sentiment. I dabbed a little pink ink on it to make it match the card a bit better. I love that the card has so much dimension and that it can be used for a number of different occasions (wedding shower, valentine, baby girl...).<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8Z_CgjHqlZSWbmMFRy6_A0VzvU65g6NBCemkjsx61sg6g8MEpLef3j5vM6WrekmDcbKvP9ywAL94QADwXrKFuOcqT1PKCaL5sQDOgT3jWxmGZGiWKVvNY8lmMn7wIkz4kanDQx7wdrYw/s1600/Love+Card.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8Z_CgjHqlZSWbmMFRy6_A0VzvU65g6NBCemkjsx61sg6g8MEpLef3j5vM6WrekmDcbKvP9ywAL94QADwXrKFuOcqT1PKCaL5sQDOgT3jWxmGZGiWKVvNY8lmMn7wIkz4kanDQx7wdrYw/s1600/Love+Card.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
And now for my layout. I wanted to create a layout with another of the photos of my grandparents. We estimate that this photo was taken around 1959 or 1960. I love how the black and white photo works with the pinks and reds of the papers. Oh, and I used the sketch that is part of one of the challenges of our crop that's going on right now!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNyheZg2B5xz6FEeBhnkmgminPMDeSbpVBXOSV4HZMT3ciKcHDM7lUU5jw3AqJrGkinAjaxeX21R3bKDVtTFGHXkT15xbuGSnTqb9SirllEYxlzt_92PPbsrgVkepjtjvS2YIE5os4B3w/s1600/True+Love.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNyheZg2B5xz6FEeBhnkmgminPMDeSbpVBXOSV4HZMT3ciKcHDM7lUU5jw3AqJrGkinAjaxeX21R3bKDVtTFGHXkT15xbuGSnTqb9SirllEYxlzt_92PPbsrgVkepjtjvS2YIE5os4B3w/s1600/True+Love.jpg" height="638" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Here's a closeup of the center portion of the layout. The flower is from last year's February kit, I believe! I love how the blingy swirls work with it. I acutally cut the swirl in half and added a space in the middle of it (under the flower) so that it would work better with the size of the flower. You can see that I also used another fabulous doily!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today!Nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15316012920981131339noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169625517026210068.post-25022010783983820892014-02-05T09:00:00.000-05:002014-02-05T09:00:06.477-05:00Welcome Baby Avery!Here's a fun post that I shared on the AWDML Blog last week! Check it out!<br />
<br />
Happy Scrappy Wednesday, Everyone!<br />
We have some very exciting news in our family! My cousin and his wife welcomed baby Avery into the family just yesterday. We are over the moon in love with her, and we haven't even met her yet!<br />
Now that's she's here and we know her name, I wanted to make a special card to send to them. Look how cute it is!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdLIfd2c7fh7meVNFvoVyW8hL6W97xJgbwxoQ3k-VevCGo-h4fljk10SRPDQCzbGiX6_LAmrrvfFwXMCAZ_V3b87BCCJonOOToupjMCg56GR1MMyeC-lFZdrqrdpv0BBl0puKo6Vffhlk/s1600/AWDML+Welcome+Avery.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdLIfd2c7fh7meVNFvoVyW8hL6W97xJgbwxoQ3k-VevCGo-h4fljk10SRPDQCzbGiX6_LAmrrvfFwXMCAZ_V3b87BCCJonOOToupjMCg56GR1MMyeC-lFZdrqrdpv0BBl0puKo6Vffhlk/s1600/AWDML+Welcome+Avery.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
To make the baby bundle, I started with a 3 inch square of kraft cardstock. Then, I placed it on my scoring board. I placed one corner at the 3" mark and made sure that the opposite corner was also on the 3" line. Then I made a score line 3/4" on either side of the 3" mark.<br />
<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="" class="aligncenter" data-mce-src="http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg292/niknik8566/Welcomebaby1.jpg" height="336" src="http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg292/niknik8566/Welcomebaby1.jpg" width="425" /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br />Now, turn the square 90 degrees and make one score line 1/2" to the left of the 3" mark.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="" class="aligncenter" data-mce-src="http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg292/niknik8566/Welcomebaby2.jpg" height="336" src="http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg292/niknik8566/Welcomebaby2.jpg" width="408" /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br />Next, fold on each of the three score marks and add adhesive to each flap as shown.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="" class="aligncenter" data-mce-src="http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg292/niknik8566/WelcmeBaby3.jpg" height="336" src="http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg292/niknik8566/WelcmeBaby3.jpg" width="337" /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br />Now, fold in the flaps and press to adhere.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="" class="aligncenter" data-mce-src="http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg292/niknik8566/WelcomeBaby4.jpg" height="405" src="http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg292/niknik8566/WelcomeBaby4.jpg" width="336" /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br />Now, use a 1" circle punch to make a small light pink circle. Draw on a face and use some ink or chalk to give the face some pink cheeks. Then, simply tuck the face into the little bundle.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="" class="aligncenter" data-mce-src="http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg292/niknik8566/WelcomeBaby5.jpg" height="423" src="http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg292/niknik8566/WelcomeBaby5.jpg" width="336" /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<br />Now, add the baby bundle to your card! I decided to add some twine and a tiny little tag with the baby's name on it, as well.</div>
I hope you liked today's project and that you're inspired to give it a try the next time you are lucky enough to be able to welcome a baby.<br />
<br />Thanks so much for stopping by today!Nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15316012920981131339noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169625517026210068.post-82298349821749042632014-01-26T23:15:00.003-05:002014-01-26T23:15:41.456-05:00An Oldie But A Goodie!Hey, there everyone!! Here's a challenge and project that are up on the <a href="http://birdsofafeatherkitco.ning.com/profiles/blog/list" target="_blank">BOAF blog</a> today!<br />
I have a Sunday Scrappy Challenge for you! You are welcome to use this as a BONUS challenge for our Winterfest Crop going on now! If you get this challenge posted in the <a href="http://birdsofafeatherkitco.ning.com/photo" target="_blank">BOAF Gallery</a> and linked to <a href="http://forum.birdsofafeatherkitco.com/viewtopic.php?f=511&t=7830" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">THIS</a> thread by the end of the day on Wednesday, you'll go into a drawing for a RAK along with those who complete my other crop challenges!<br /> <br /> So, what is this challenge you ask?! Well, the challenge is simple: <em><strong>Use a photo that is at least 10 years old</strong></em>.<br />
I used the gorgeous January Kit and another photo that my aunt and uncle gave me last year after my grandmother passed away. It's from their wedding. Since this uncle is my father's brother and this aunt is my mother's sister, the parents in the photo are also both sets of my grandparents! So, this is a very special photo to me. There are not a lot of photos that have all four of my grandparents in it! (Not 100% sure that the date is correct, but I'll double check... ;) )<br />

And, finally a close-up of the photo. From left to right it's my Grampy (my mom's dad), Grammy (my mom's mom), Aunt Sharon (my mom's sister), Uncle Nelson (my dad's brother), Memere (my dad's mom) and Pepere (my dad's dad). Can you see where E's red hair came from in Grammy's big poufy hair?!<br />

Thanks for stopping by today! Here's a post I'm sharing on the<a href="http://birdsofafeatherkitco.ning.com/profiles/blogs/more-of-the-gorgeous-january-kit" target="_blank"> BOAF Blog</a> today!<br />
<br />
I've so enjoyed this kit! There's plenty of awesomeness no matter what you're trying to scrap! There's plenty papers that would work with boy themes, girl themes, heritage, black and white or color, winter-- you name it, this kit can do it! The kit also works perfectly for cards!<br /><br />I am finally feeling the urge to scrap a pile of photos that my aunt and uncle gave me over a year ago. When my grandmother passed last December, my aunts and uncles put together a collection of photos for a dislpay at the funeral. I saw many photos I knew and loved, and several I'd never seen before. My aunt and uncle were so sweet to make copies of many of the photos and gave them to me last Christmas. They have sat on my table, just waiting for the right inspiration. My inspiration arrived in my January kit!<br /><br />This photo was taken around 1959 and features my dad with his four siblings and his parents. In the photo, my dad is the tallest and has the most hair. Now, it's the exact opposite!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Here's a closeup of the photo. I was able to get the names of everyone in the photo written underneath. <br />

<br />
And, the butterflies-- I fussy cut a bunch of the butterflies from one of the Echo Park papers in the kit to add dimension, color and balance to the layout.<br />

Sorry I've been a slacker on updating by blog lately. I had surgery on BOTH of my feet back in December and the road to recovery has been a bit longer than I anticipated. But, I'm getting my energy and my mobility back slowly but surely. Thanks for sticking with me! Here's a post I shared on the <a href="http://birdsofafeatherkitco.ning.com/profiles/blogs/jumping-with-january-joy" target="_blank">Birds of a Feather blog</a> today!<br />
<br />
What do you get when you cross rich, beautiful jewel tones with sweet patterns and incredible embellishments? The <a data-mce-href="http://birdsofafeatherkitco.com/item_1143/January-2014-Kit.htm" href="http://birdsofafeatherkitco.com/item_1143/January-2014-Kit.htm" target="_blank">January 2014 BOAF</a> kit, of course!!! Seriously, this is an amazing kit that is chock full of amazing colors and easy to use embellishments that are perfectly coordinated. The add-ons make it even better!<br />
<br />
I have a simple, but pretty layout to share with you today. It features a photo of my daughter taken on her 10th birthday. She's so full of beauty, energy and big dreams.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEju7tl2Wbe1CMbGnIiDxnxtFbND1s_6oq0JgIQjRGMe2ALa3q0bzyXakYt3KlXPZ6-bYiv0N5rOeKPaWv9Ca_ddAhyphenhyphenCpZyXLNXsvjGScNZJ3WXTPLeQHzTr69GG7jvkkXG-1qCIvkaMh5U/s1600/Little+Girl+Big+Dreams.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEju7tl2Wbe1CMbGnIiDxnxtFbND1s_6oq0JgIQjRGMe2ALa3q0bzyXakYt3KlXPZ6-bYiv0N5rOeKPaWv9Ca_ddAhyphenhyphenCpZyXLNXsvjGScNZJ3WXTPLeQHzTr69GG7jvkkXG-1qCIvkaMh5U/s1600/Little+Girl+Big+Dreams.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Here's a close-up of the title and some of the embellishments that I used. Aren't the colors faulous?<br />
<a data-mce-href="http://api.ning.com:80/files/1TxjyclNmzsD7ZTR*lbVOCJKECK*tR-rdGVX2ZwNFZcgTmkN4funBoK1dUYmpRFHmXJ5Q88Kq9y3vPdsNVxbzVPWSqluZtC1/LittleGirlClose1.jpg" href="http://api.ning.com/files/1TxjyclNmzsD7ZTR*lbVOCJKECK*tR-rdGVX2ZwNFZcgTmkN4funBoK1dUYmpRFHmXJ5Q88Kq9y3vPdsNVxbzVPWSqluZtC1/LittleGirlClose1.jpg" target="_self"></a><br />

<br />
I also made a card to share with you today! These flowers (available in the <a data-mce-href="http://birdsofafeatherkitco.com/item_1146/Jan-14-Extra-Embellishments-2.htm" href="http://birdsofafeatherkitco.com/item_1146/Jan-14-Extra-Embellishments-2.htm" target="_blank">extra embellishments</a>) come grouped together in sweet little bouquets. They made me think of sending someone flowers, so that's exactly what I wanted to do with my card. The patterned paper you see here is part of the <a data-mce-href="http://birdsofafeatherkitco.com/item_1144/Jan-14-Extra-Patterned-Paper.htm" href="http://birdsofafeatherkitco.com/item_1144/Jan-14-Extra-Patterned-Paper.htm" target="_blank">extra patterned paper add-on</a>. Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed my projects and that you are inspired to order your BOAF kit TODAY! Nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15316012920981131339noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169625517026210068.post-34650013212494266962013-12-28T12:04:00.001-05:002013-12-28T12:04:42.482-05:00Merry Christmas Morning<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
Hey, there everyone! Here's a quick article I shared in this week's AWDML newsletter. If you'd like to be getting these newsletters full of inspiration and prodcuts, just click <a href="http://www.awdml.com/index.php?main_page=page&id=5&zenid=983d590c7a2b6f3385a7b1a04738155b" target="_blank">HERE</a>!<br />
<br />
A really
popular technique to use when you would like a page to come together quickly is
"blocking." Blocking is when you use blocks of color or patterned paper to
balance your design. When creating a scrapbook page, the photo(s) would be
included as one (or several) of the blocks. There are many, many examples of
this technique available for inspiration. </div>
<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
For my layout, I used a very
simple, but very obvious blocking design. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgADD-UPMkX24at6wngmIaTY0NQ_6HdcOGR6bk2_51fQvjJ6o3G-zcGWN7LFaTNzn36SVQzRde2rXvkBZWf8_hNSAEm8p051yfdDAYQBvUm3aPUKzsTEkHAnwMWIV8QggIeShREmHygXZE/s1600/Merry+Chtistmas+Morning.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="636" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgADD-UPMkX24at6wngmIaTY0NQ_6HdcOGR6bk2_51fQvjJ6o3G-zcGWN7LFaTNzn36SVQzRde2rXvkBZWf8_hNSAEm8p051yfdDAYQBvUm3aPUKzsTEkHAnwMWIV8QggIeShREmHygXZE/s640/Merry+Chtistmas+Morning.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
The red block of paper is the same size
as my photo in order to create balance. The journal cards are smaller than the
other blocks but balance eachother in the design.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzG8PAZyQuQNlS46WncsLyZ7clwuoEdKZVFM7vUDXssZhj_sHatxEQmcCytGmCRe8BuyN3dp0U1hebmY2uzARbPUklsCYB1AYunqOY7YYXP0F_mhRX19HZEK5Vr4lO3vZp7HQcH_qvE30/s1600/Merry+Christmas+Morning+Close+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a> </div>
<br />
<div align="left" style="text-align: left;">
I used quite a few of the stickers from
the collection, along with some foam tape to create dimension on the page. On
this photo, you can also see the beautiful script for the title cut from Memory
Box dies.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Thanks for stopping by today! Here's a fun post I shared last week on the AWDML Blog as part of their 12 Days of Christmas event.<br />
<br />
Happy Scrappy Wednesday, everyone and welcome to day 11 of our 12 Days of Christmas event! I have a fun and simple project to share today that would make a great gift for teachers, classmates, office friends, postal carriers, bus drivers and anyone else that you like to give a little "something" to every Christmas.<br />
<br />
Start by printing the sentiment on your printer. You can use any word processing program and it should end up being about 2" by 3". The sentiment I used was "We wish you a Merry Kissmas and a Chappy New Year."<br />
<br />
Now, cut a piece of patterned paper to 3 1/2" by 4 1/2". Using a craft knife, cut two 1 1/2" slits that are 1 1/4" from the top and bottom edge and about 1/4" from the left edge. See below. The RED represents the cuts.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg24mQF3iZPJOkzFFJLqKIxpgkPl6bt0y9nFEuwUBz8TovfK9JZkf-Z5bNCReu0JWOMprnL00vHUmcozkPzZ5k-51oFy3toX9cnDa00cZ68fbxxmynXgP2-VHs1TF8hm-kF6sXDdsCcP1Y/s1600/AWDML+Chapstick+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="510" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg24mQF3iZPJOkzFFJLqKIxpgkPl6bt0y9nFEuwUBz8TovfK9JZkf-Z5bNCReu0JWOMprnL00vHUmcozkPzZ5k-51oFy3toX9cnDa00cZ68fbxxmynXgP2-VHs1TF8hm-kF6sXDdsCcP1Y/s640/AWDML+Chapstick+1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFgjqOf0mio6_udeXCpGSh3fCDeR72TTRzDeO_tSKdR6Q_7XhAFt6s8gzKWCRND315F8UBG8k3Irb7EyLLAXCmmZHnIuBJam8p6NZUClPcf70NVbgPVidybg9iL1CRWP8P6th0ARM6XTk/s1600/AWDML+Chapstick+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a> </div>
Once your slits are cut, simply slip your tube of chapstick in and adhere your sentiment.<br />

Just sharing my project from last week on the AWDML blog! Enjoy!<br />
<br />
Happy Scrappy Wednesday! Today I want to share a fun and super easy Christmas ornament that you can make for your own tree, or as a gift for someone else. These would also be great to add to a package or gift bag!<br />
First, cut a strip of patterned paper 12″ by 3 1/2″. Since we’re making a Christmas tree, I would suggest using green. Now, measure and mark along the bottom of the strip every 2 1/2″. Along the top, measure 1 1/4″ then move your ruler over to that mark and mark every 2 1/2″ from there. Once you’ve gone all the way across, connect the marks to look like this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxfWdYNynhn8UQqdQRXDRq1J6Wx4-1Fmtc3wstn1Wau7ML_aNtWq8zmKQ1CemBz_9mykmcWpsdPs8yXt_dM1T_MPFZJ0uz5Wii6Dns-ntZptJCH6a7eQZyRRZE93t_CEPc-JMMxGuWZAU/s1600/AWDML+Tree+Ornament+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="222" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxfWdYNynhn8UQqdQRXDRq1J6Wx4-1Fmtc3wstn1Wau7ML_aNtWq8zmKQ1CemBz_9mykmcWpsdPs8yXt_dM1T_MPFZJ0uz5Wii6Dns-ntZptJCH6a7eQZyRRZE93t_CEPc-JMMxGuWZAU/s640/AWDML+Tree+Ornament+2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="resized_img">
</div>
<br />
Here’s a closeup of what the measurements should look like:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhX-EoioFRyQ8CpTf24SoYmz7aQzzrbLhcC1Jbxyk8uO0fIwYejT4EDpfK6Yr5Fak4DXfGDOlwub64NPWdc5AqX9zTtaJ-6ahBXBhh-vRQ0AgXy_iczFk2Jpo3htQd5J0koUvmjFUtu2aU/s1600/AWDML+Tree+Ornament+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="282" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhX-EoioFRyQ8CpTf24SoYmz7aQzzrbLhcC1Jbxyk8uO0fIwYejT4EDpfK6Yr5Fak4DXfGDOlwub64NPWdc5AqX9zTtaJ-6ahBXBhh-vRQ0AgXy_iczFk2Jpo3htQd5J0koUvmjFUtu2aU/s400/AWDML+Tree+Ornament+1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
Now, cut carefully along the lines to make eight triangles. Place a triangle on your scoreboard and score at 1 1/4″. It should end up going right down the middle. Repeat for each triangle.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiU02oyMd10wb9WuYhdxtGm6m22PsG2jPBhzzbTiF_5B1sRF14s-APWM1k6U-wzyi_CBRL0NVojvoKyKh-MeXMakeJfscVTN3Wy_IShe07EG1ckBHIm4FkOJdH91APdOjrhXJ1h265hAGg/s1600/AWDML+Tree+Ornament+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiU02oyMd10wb9WuYhdxtGm6m22PsG2jPBhzzbTiF_5B1sRF14s-APWM1k6U-wzyi_CBRL0NVojvoKyKh-MeXMakeJfscVTN3Wy_IShe07EG1ckBHIm4FkOJdH91APdOjrhXJ1h265hAGg/s640/AWDML+Tree+Ornament+3.jpg" width="505" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Now, fold each triangle in half with the side you want showing on the inside of the fold. Then, ad adhesive to one side of the back of the triangle and adhere it to another triangle matching the edges as much as possible.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQy5BknkdgfILQhP0ZQ9QWb6e4PU2_jj4vpvrqeislc_Mm8SCzDrl2IzWvc6RdDCBfdV870HeVxQjCSq0HDFB9RJpxY64Nht3KXMUb82A0gjR5tSrO7MCXgF2rnnVACvvaQ1KzJEjDDBE/s1600/AWDML+Tree+Ornament+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQy5BknkdgfILQhP0ZQ9QWb6e4PU2_jj4vpvrqeislc_Mm8SCzDrl2IzWvc6RdDCBfdV870HeVxQjCSq0HDFB9RJpxY64Nht3KXMUb82A0gjR5tSrO7MCXgF2rnnVACvvaQ1KzJEjDDBE/s640/AWDML+Tree+Ornament+4.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
Continue adding triangles until you’ve used them all (or until you are happy with the result- I would recommend at least six). Then, add a ribbon, as shown.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj92ZuuEUw6Dy4o7MPIEk7zaQQ9zkAChqgnS19ILCJrzt-hTjboswPV6U8yzYHQFgBMbH5UUrrYF8wYBie5CW-fEkKfOsMML44TmbGIvWKVvKPf6DlrsZLdfeHoM-3CzV3V7GfCKshTjS4/s1600/AWDML+Tree+Ornament+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj92ZuuEUw6Dy4o7MPIEk7zaQQ9zkAChqgnS19ILCJrzt-hTjboswPV6U8yzYHQFgBMbH5UUrrYF8wYBie5CW-fEkKfOsMML44TmbGIvWKVvKPf6DlrsZLdfeHoM-3CzV3V7GfCKshTjS4/s640/AWDML+Tree+Ornament+5.jpg" width="488" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Now, adhere the two final sides together to close up the “tree”. The ribbon shold be coming out the top like this:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNFNwKyRa6WANMQpkC538aIc_rW0Fd-i8J66mD81Ev5ENkshbShyphenhyphenEpF97pBP2G8Oir8CZ0snF53mO_nVsAnTnPeon8P3pqm7iqfuiK_Pjj9pFhyphenhyphenBOYHDD6lTvyY3QSUeYVqi8FoaRK8DM/s1600/AWDML+Tree+Ornament+6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNFNwKyRa6WANMQpkC538aIc_rW0Fd-i8J66mD81Ev5ENkshbShyphenhyphenEpF97pBP2G8Oir8CZ0snF53mO_nVsAnTnPeon8P3pqm7iqfuiK_Pjj9pFhyphenhyphenBOYHDD6lTvyY3QSUeYVqi8FoaRK8DM/s640/AWDML+Tree+Ornament+6.jpg" width="436" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<em></em><br /> </div>
Now, you can add some additional decorations such as pearls or gemstones, or just leave it simple<em>.</em><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>

Come back again next week for another fun Christmas project!Nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15316012920981131339noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169625517026210068.post-2332867843627818972013-12-04T11:06:00.000-05:002013-12-04T11:06:00.085-05:00Just Because...Hey there, everyone! Here's a layout I shared on the AWDML Blog last week!<br />
<br />
Happy Scrappy Wednesday, everyone!!<br />
I decided that I wanted to use some papers from my stash today-- something that I've had for a while. So, while looking through, I came across the <a data-mce-href="http://www.awdml.com/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1&keyword=just+because" href="http://www.awdml.com/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1&keyword=just+because">Just Because</a> collection from Little Yellow Bicycle. I LOVED this line when it first came out and I {might} have hoarded it because I didn't want to cut it. I know....I know....<br />
So, today I'm using it and I'm super happy with the layout that I made. I used the title of the collection as inspiration for my title.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6RS7N_PoFU7LL41W3YayOKI1mjidO8lny80L24onrP4L7m_zQaimpjMU2HM9hKSQNF3bh2WJHXgqxU7cru7R3g87EHMcsFn2uKyinToGx92W8hyGqLWoLB4uTv3qWMRVWop43p2pADDQ/s1600/AWDML+Just+Because.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6RS7N_PoFU7LL41W3YayOKI1mjidO8lny80L24onrP4L7m_zQaimpjMU2HM9hKSQNF3bh2WJHXgqxU7cru7R3g87EHMcsFn2uKyinToGx92W8hyGqLWoLB4uTv3qWMRVWop43p2pADDQ/s1600/AWDML+Just+Because.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
And, here's a close-up of the title where I colored the DIY Thickers with a Copic Marker to match the layout perfectly!<br />

<br />
Happy Scrappy Wednesday, everyone!!<br />
Lately, I've been sharing a snowman theme with you and today I've got another SNOW CUTE Snowman Card to share with you!<br />
I started with a blue background which I inked with Antique Linen Distress ink. Then, I cut the layers of snow and inked them, as well. I like how the Antique Linen ink adds some shading and dimension without adding too much color.<br />
Then I created my little snowman. I cut the circles using my Nestibilities Circle dies and free hand cut the hat, scarf, carrot nose and arms with a sharp pair of scissors. I love the whimsy that is created by putting the larger "snowball" as the top of my snowman! Isn't he SNOW CUTE?!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6LjCE9l5Vglmy4UV0p0sEyYBhTmdux7vWBW0Yg_y-eZzbjvLaa7zgceepVrbxD-PDEWQGmmwZhBVs-1HDv3wFoWbPhMiOjMMkuXoZnjhfwP2gklCdZcG8MhgY65aBRBrY7pMa965OPTU/s1600/AWDML+Snowman+Card.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6LjCE9l5Vglmy4UV0p0sEyYBhTmdux7vWBW0Yg_y-eZzbjvLaa7zgceepVrbxD-PDEWQGmmwZhBVs-1HDv3wFoWbPhMiOjMMkuXoZnjhfwP2gklCdZcG8MhgY65aBRBrY7pMa965OPTU/s1600/AWDML+Snowman+Card.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
The eyes and smile were created with my Copic Multiliner pens and the snowflakes were made with the Atyou Spica pens (also from Copic). I just LOVE these pens for adding detail and journaling to projects!<br />
I hope you enjoyed my card today and that you're inspired to make of of our own!<br />
<br />
All materials for this card are available at <a href="http://www.awdml.com/" target="_blank">A Walk Down Memory Lane</a>!Nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15316012920981131339noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169625517026210068.post-48366575888855538432013-11-20T14:00:00.000-05:002013-11-27T11:08:30.937-05:00It's Turkey Time!Hey, everyone!! Here's a post I shared on the <a href="http://www.awdml.com/blog/" target="_blank">AWDML Blog</a> last week! Enjoy!<br />
<br />
Happy Scrappy Wednesday, everyone!! It's Turkey Time and we're getting ready for Thanksgiving. While we are sorting out who is bringing the cranberry sauce and chocolate pie, we're also thinking of decorating and of those family members who may not be able to join us for dinner. So, today I want to share a sweet little paper crafted Turkey that could be used on a card front, napkin ring, place card or any other way you could think of! You can make him in lots of different sizes, depending on the size of the punches or dies that you use!<br />
<br />
First, gather up the pieces you need to create you turkey: One small circle for the head, one medium circle for the body, two larger circles (scalloped if you have them) for the feathers, a square/scrap for the hat and a punched branch for the feet.<br />
<br />
<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="" class="aligncenter" data-mce-src="http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg292/niknik8566/AWDMLTurkey1.jpg" height="384" src="http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg292/niknik8566/AWDMLTurkey1.jpg" width="489" /></div>
Now, adhere the small circle to the medium circle and snip off two pieces of the branch and adhere them to be back of the body as shown:<br />
<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="" class="aligncenter" data-mce-src="http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg292/niknik8566/AWDMLTurkey2.jpg" height="457" src="http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg292/niknik8566/AWDMLTurkey2.jpg" width="384" /></div>
<br />
To make the feathers, find 5 scallops and fold them upward as shown:<br />
<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="" class="aligncenter" data-mce-src="http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg292/niknik8566/AWDMLTurkey3.jpg" height="384" src="http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg292/niknik8566/AWDMLTurkey3.jpg" width="467" /></div>
Fold in half:<br />
<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="" class="aligncenter" data-mce-src="http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg292/niknik8566/AWDMLTurkey4.jpg" height="384" src="http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg292/niknik8566/AWDMLTurkey4.jpg" width="465" /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: left;">
Unfold and find the crease that you just created. Now fold each corner up to meet that middle crease and glue in place</div>
<br />
<div data-mce-style="text-align: left;" style="text-align: left;">
<a href="http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg292/niknik8566/AWDMLTurkey5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" class="aligncenter" data-mce-src="http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg292/niknik8566/AWDMLTurkey5.jpg" src="http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg292/niknik8566/AWDMLTurkey5.jpg" /></a><br />
Now, repeat the same process with the 2nd scalloped circle. Using foam tape, stick the two "feather" sections to the back of the body.</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="" class="aligncenter" data-mce-src="http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg292/niknik8566/AWDMLTurkey6.jpg" height="384" src="http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg292/niknik8566/AWDMLTurkey6.jpg" width="477" /></div>
Now, cut his hat and decorate him how ever you'd like! Isn't he cute?<br />
<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="" class="aligncenter" data-mce-src="http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg292/niknik8566/AWDMLTurkey7.jpg" height="384" src="http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg292/niknik8566/AWDMLTurkey7.jpg" width="392" /></div>
Now you can add him to a card or something fun and decorative on your Thanksgiving table! Here, I added him to a super simple card!<br />
<img alt="" class="aligncenter" data-mce-src="http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg292/niknik8566/AWDMLTurkeyCard.jpg" height="713" src="http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg292/niknik8566/AWDMLTurkeyCard.jpg" width="600" /><br />
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you were inspired to create a little turkey for yourself!<br />

Here's my post from last week on the <a href="http://www.awdml.com/blog/" target="_blank">AWDML Blog</a>!<br />
<br />
Happy Scrappy Wednesday, everyone! Just <strong><span data-mce-style="color: #ff0000;" style="color: red;">popping</span></strong> in (hahaha!) to share a fun (and easy!) gift that would be great for teachers, office staff, neighbors or even party favors at your holiday shin-dig! A Snowman Popcorn Wrap! That's right-- I simply created a snowman that wraps around a bag of microwave popcorn!<br />
<br />
I started with some white cardstock that was approximately 6" X 12". Depending on the brand and size of popcorn you use, yours may need to be taller or shorter. Then, I simply put the package of popcorn in the middle and folded my paper around it and ahdered it in the back to create a sleeve. Then, I slid the popcorn out while I made his face.<br />
<br />
The scarf is simply paper with a fringe cut from scissors with some added twine and a heart. The face is made from a carrot cut from a scrap of orange cardstock, some red ink sponged on and a black pen. I stamped a simple, general sentiment on there, as well. You could add buttons instead of a sentiment, if you wanted!<br />
<br />
Here's my little guy:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglXtcNPgKmz4K5JWqZgAM_x_mV1OKXzPNWOlCCj6FMeyXCAqBvKh8ePwoq21OufwiAkxnWv2GDNH52nAwohlBY6T6jY1ZZp5TeO2xXtu_RR5NlDA1wLI6eqlzbxg9HanCGEyue75MlhV4/s1600/AWDML+Popcorn+Gift.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglXtcNPgKmz4K5JWqZgAM_x_mV1OKXzPNWOlCCj6FMeyXCAqBvKh8ePwoq21OufwiAkxnWv2GDNH52nAwohlBY6T6jY1ZZp5TeO2xXtu_RR5NlDA1wLI6eqlzbxg9HanCGEyue75MlhV4/s1600/AWDML+Popcorn+Gift.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Isn't he SO cute?!?! There's lots of fun ways you could change this up and maybe even use it for something besides popcorn. I think this would make a great card front!<br />
<br />
I hope you enjoyed my project today and that you are inspired to make one of your own! Thanks for stopping by today!<br />

Here's my post that just went up on the<a href="http://birdsofafeatherkitco.ning.com/profiles/blog/list" target="_blank"> BOAF Blog</a> today! Thanks for visiting! <br />
<br />
Today I want to share a fun accordion star that would be great for the front of a card (Christmas, birthday... you name it!) or to add dimension to a layout or other project! This is a Pinterest Inspired project from <a href="http://www.spsetc.blogspot.ca/" target="_blank">this blog</a>.<br />
First, make a template using a piece of thick cardstock or thin cardboard. Cut a strip 1 3/4" by 6". Then, draw a horizontal line 1" from the top of the strip. Then, mark at 1 3/16", 2 3/8", 3 9/16" and 4 3/4" as shown below.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQVWoAF6TZ3Mh7flIpQhD9uGAb5JE4qPBU6X9MZpKqAkMjA4A8XBNAoPeIgrdhwRLO0BM2cpCtDtip2vxqMxbvdSYL7a_ox-tSM87AFp8Cd5ur8yBC7veW4PNzCT61EU_kdXbmqctGzms/s1600/Accordion+Star+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="324" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQVWoAF6TZ3Mh7flIpQhD9uGAb5JE4qPBU6X9MZpKqAkMjA4A8XBNAoPeIgrdhwRLO0BM2cpCtDtip2vxqMxbvdSYL7a_ox-tSM87AFp8Cd5ur8yBC7veW4PNzCT61EU_kdXbmqctGzms/s640/Accordion+Star+1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Now, connect the marks as shown:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTA3Cl5fpXDymHdG6BRpg2-cgMwdTU2LoDzmrxZ_DsrqYs7AKu8X2GUfKxbGlxTicZe87QHCtOlBqZ5_z1NU258WsQgv5v-3l8j2so-plZsyEEAvXu0H3jtkh89Drfi-plcKquz8y5Ckw/s1600/Accoridon+Star+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="291" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTA3Cl5fpXDymHdG6BRpg2-cgMwdTU2LoDzmrxZ_DsrqYs7AKu8X2GUfKxbGlxTicZe87QHCtOlBqZ5_z1NU258WsQgv5v-3l8j2so-plZsyEEAvXu0H3jtkh89Drfi-plcKquz8y5Ckw/s640/Accoridon+Star+2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<a data-mce-href="http://api.ning.com:80/files/etWx3bZZxYoo0m7O5Rvpmp38fuKr28hh0N0wJT5YqvLSNnMiNhuRBfXC3nKPtXD6ezmQF79KbkSpjqaOfpYh*AHuI7VVbMAN/AccoridonStar2.jpg" href="http://api.ning.com/files/etWx3bZZxYoo0m7O5Rvpmp38fuKr28hh0N0wJT5YqvLSNnMiNhuRBfXC3nKPtXD6ezmQF79KbkSpjqaOfpYh*AHuI7VVbMAN/AccoridonStar2.jpg" target="_self"></a> <br />
And, cut along the lines so that it looks like this:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgi_5W6Vg50tyrenToPqra2rJ9jQsXDkl_ZO15B5KnlCU1NF2ZXETPheVvEVH6VuX6YwR00RqFhCqFuoQWVFim0FiPYZhBPrwCLlgFUynzpomyx9HfDYt_-IL_7XaDwvrCVHyrh9Pw56ow/s1600/Accoridon+Star+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="264" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgi_5W6Vg50tyrenToPqra2rJ9jQsXDkl_ZO15B5KnlCU1NF2ZXETPheVvEVH6VuX6YwR00RqFhCqFuoQWVFim0FiPYZhBPrwCLlgFUynzpomyx9HfDYt_-IL_7XaDwvrCVHyrh9Pw56ow/s640/Accoridon+Star+3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Now, to make the star, start with a piece of patterned paper cut 1 3/4" by 12". Fold the strip in half (so that it's now 6" long. Place the template on the strip and trace. be sure that the fold of the paper is to the RIGHT side of the template. It should look like this.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghUdlBeAq2O_hvg9zQQlOxiJf3f8GP4kWHgUKuS-O3tCPBBw-eX0ZcIM1XJj6piVk8A0AMH66LQAO6CWNZQAcMO7GUoVAB16K_RCdRnHjqloAs4K-HFEKZ_540-yw6qec5ZCEKlmhEyGo/s1600/Accoridon+Star+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="387" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghUdlBeAq2O_hvg9zQQlOxiJf3f8GP4kWHgUKuS-O3tCPBBw-eX0ZcIM1XJj6piVk8A0AMH66LQAO6CWNZQAcMO7GUoVAB16K_RCdRnHjqloAs4K-HFEKZ_540-yw6qec5ZCEKlmhEyGo/s640/Accoridon+Star+4.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Now, cut along the line and unfold your strip. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4G_w9u7qmIfq6mEELSJKhVCNuUJz-Uy67n-hQJafsaEpC_i9wa2jvWeiPHjP0kuq0Vv9O75TlmRyvJyB-kcTqPUfI-Ad8jSQO7pO2g-MNOgxFCHLOh68pvmqMoZ5KweBgUVzl6nCXWR8/s1600/Accordion+Star+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="308" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4G_w9u7qmIfq6mEELSJKhVCNuUJz-Uy67n-hQJafsaEpC_i9wa2jvWeiPHjP0kuq0Vv9O75TlmRyvJyB-kcTqPUfI-Ad8jSQO7pO2g-MNOgxFCHLOh68pvmqMoZ5KweBgUVzl6nCXWR8/s640/Accordion+Star+5.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Then, using a score board and scoring tool, score at every 1/4" the entire length of the strip and accoridon fold it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSi-UtojUqu03Ma-cSCQbhTfSI18HCC3glzGt2E21d3QDpT6vca8zGPJoCB28uOaTDNwrJxzT-GBaVJxe7nf0d7ME4UuCmphX2pqP6WLxx-EEpzLdPjyVbu1-bFozx0xZZ89G2s36FbFE/s1600/Accordion+Star+6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="312" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSi-UtojUqu03Ma-cSCQbhTfSI18HCC3glzGt2E21d3QDpT6vca8zGPJoCB28uOaTDNwrJxzT-GBaVJxe7nf0d7ME4UuCmphX2pqP6WLxx-EEpzLdPjyVbu1-bFozx0xZZ89G2s36FbFE/s640/Accordion+Star+6.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Now, adhere the ends of the strip together and punch a circle from scrap paper to use for gluing the star down.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9HyjKwkytQV8Uj2XIGzvS-gcJbZSCA2h7ppyaRi6JPPcehJAnGGwDpjKjaG4gp6Cqs92KZHVVLumzPeTBHiONPL-6PrKasTR-_nKVSjJOMh871YFPYMeoLDaun9r2FQzIeJXsfP0O24I/s1600/Accordion+Star+7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="311" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9HyjKwkytQV8Uj2XIGzvS-gcJbZSCA2h7ppyaRi6JPPcehJAnGGwDpjKjaG4gp6Cqs92KZHVVLumzPeTBHiONPL-6PrKasTR-_nKVSjJOMh871YFPYMeoLDaun9r2FQzIeJXsfP0O24I/s400/Accordion+Star+7.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
And, now for the big moment.... gather the straight edge of the strip together and push down toward the center. Glue it down with a strong ahesive (I reccommend hot glue). Adjust quickly so that the small circle in the center of your star is even and that the points are as even as possible.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4mXLi-sQf01VGLnIOMdzcNwT7T3zh0qWzcvMWPxR9-hW-VghiBkuMG5pkt51D9Cc3ICAU5RV64BwiTY09APqMascuvC-3NPPqGU6SwPLxOxiYlKs4EMHRxs1X95Z3VXF_L-st9CIXukQ/s1600/Accoridon+Star+7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="355" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4mXLi-sQf01VGLnIOMdzcNwT7T3zh0qWzcvMWPxR9-hW-VghiBkuMG5pkt51D9Cc3ICAU5RV64BwiTY09APqMascuvC-3NPPqGU6SwPLxOxiYlKs4EMHRxs1X95Z3VXF_L-st9CIXukQ/s400/Accoridon+Star+7.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Now, simply add the star to your project!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8plu25fsc6yBKOtHb9j3j3F0rlcUsH2WLV0CxhrPqJ6OYXJIe7ermHDagF7lmz-cMNf7pA3ZTRgJ5ashoBAqqb4cySIWhylc2lHbOJqoMSvt67e_z-UPRH4sc-L3DOUqYOAKfMG3bGi0/s1600/Accoridon+Star+Card.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8plu25fsc6yBKOtHb9j3j3F0rlcUsH2WLV0CxhrPqJ6OYXJIe7ermHDagF7lmz-cMNf7pA3ZTRgJ5ashoBAqqb4cySIWhylc2lHbOJqoMSvt67e_z-UPRH4sc-L3DOUqYOAKfMG3bGi0/s640/Accoridon+Star+Card.jpg" width="548" /></a></div>

Thanks for checking it out!<br />
<br />
Happy Scrappy Wednesday, Everyone!<br />
<br />
Today I have some fun (and easy!) Halloween Treat Boxes to share with you! These would be perfect for whipping up a large batch for your kidI did three different designs, but they all started the same:<br />
First, cut a 3" by 8 1/2" strip of cardstock. I used black. Then, score it at 3", 4" and 7". Fold on all of the score lines and then you'll have this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJyd0ryAG6hpQYcIFzMfB06onRUlEClHSm17-p2QUX0vgQLSpPi-dCW7c-cZuZxgUBj0l7MxwkKbzaxm8weBvgGqT0QdL1aKwr-kclAwkQADFTqUXXwPOf7ycxpNQEppso9xPW52izCaw/s1600/AWDML+Halloween+Treats+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJyd0ryAG6hpQYcIFzMfB06onRUlEClHSm17-p2QUX0vgQLSpPi-dCW7c-cZuZxgUBj0l7MxwkKbzaxm8weBvgGqT0QdL1aKwr-kclAwkQADFTqUXXwPOf7ycxpNQEppso9xPW52izCaw/s320/AWDML+Halloween+Treats+1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And the front....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVOSYgrdXoLUYslankpb7n_PYWY8BdtkndOAp7mHX6h6DHRjM0qvaTPkjWLRFKYkxjqFF8uw03K0RB1ZzjiSnh-pOCtnncs6Aa-yL_uA8NZkaKP2d4vV_VA9NUx3vZCGd7B6xGqUHGXXY/s1600/AWDML+Halloween+Treats+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="260" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVOSYgrdXoLUYslankpb7n_PYWY8BdtkndOAp7mHX6h6DHRjM0qvaTPkjWLRFKYkxjqFF8uw03K0RB1ZzjiSnh-pOCtnncs6Aa-yL_uA8NZkaKP2d4vV_VA9NUx3vZCGd7B6xGqUHGXXY/s320/AWDML+Halloween+Treats+2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: center;">
</div>
Now, the fun part-- to decorate the front! For this one, I used my oval dies to create a little pumpkin, I hand cut the stem and the "curly Q" is just a thin strip of cardstock that's been wrapped around a pencil. Cute, eh?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPXcli4ulF0E8PGxF8XQH8Jq-S76CwUxrO8Og55AouKkuRc-9XEsMAKerHovruRIGyACK27iif0yHz-6RK7urvmIwFtp9uHwOTrqUNSM8pr60T8FokmdWuHk9CIhmZc-anr_PJbzWAM2Y/s1600/AWDML+Halloween+Treats+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPXcli4ulF0E8PGxF8XQH8Jq-S76CwUxrO8Og55AouKkuRc-9XEsMAKerHovruRIGyACK27iif0yHz-6RK7urvmIwFtp9uHwOTrqUNSM8pr60T8FokmdWuHk9CIhmZc-anr_PJbzWAM2Y/s320/AWDML+Halloween+Treats+3.jpg" width="309" /></a></div>
<br />
Here's little Frankie! I simply hand cut the "fringe" for his hair, used a small circle punch for his eyes, and drew the rest with a black marker!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7pc7OSotvC-prvzdQ0lldiDXIpj2uwUm8Bp6Bx9tbshL8ofjuK36DLbfMcvqmDjbnrHYRCM80PfhfesQXZ_HB0Ir0BPmak9Ij5TxU7flVfGdg8C7VPKbc0NIQ-_XrGnZM0AEgrjZftlU/s1600/AWDML+Halloween+Treats+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="308" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7pc7OSotvC-prvzdQ0lldiDXIpj2uwUm8Bp6Bx9tbshL8ofjuK36DLbfMcvqmDjbnrHYRCM80PfhfesQXZ_HB0Ir0BPmak9Ij5TxU7flVfGdg8C7VPKbc0NIQ-_XrGnZM0AEgrjZftlU/s320/AWDML+Halloween+Treats+4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I also created a ghost at the last second, but forgot to snap a photo just of him. I started with a 3" by 3" square of white and hand cut the shape of the ghost. Then circle punched the eyes and mouth using two different sized circle punches.<br />
<br />
Here are all of the treat boxes together. When I attached the "characters" to the fronts of the boxes, I only put adhesive on the top 1/3 so that they would stick only on the top flap of the box. So, if you lift up on the character, the box will open to reveal the Halloween treat inside!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfO2bBx4wYmSPjCQkM6g59AAk8IrDV8KYPZXxLfeQJXI59qi5kQl_mHjZcwgGUkOxKCD6CZFiJ8qCFQf2pV6Gz-TWYsxDjShri89VUeqsGv95CvnZFpbxAfFGa_cQj7H6eTUIdMPFzVek/s1600/AWDML+Halloween+Treats.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="255" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfO2bBx4wYmSPjCQkM6g59AAk8IrDV8KYPZXxLfeQJXI59qi5kQl_mHjZcwgGUkOxKCD6CZFiJ8qCFQf2pV6Gz-TWYsxDjShri89VUeqsGv95CvnZFpbxAfFGa_cQj7H6eTUIdMPFzVek/s640/AWDML+Halloween+Treats.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm already cooking up a Christmas version of this project! Stay tuned for that! Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed the project!Nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15316012920981131339noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169625517026210068.post-15352254545506203072013-11-02T16:13:00.000-04:002013-11-02T16:13:14.852-04:00November Kit from Birds of a Feather!Here's my reveal that was just shared on the <a href="http://birdsofafeatherkitco.ning.com/profiles/blogs/november-s-kit-is-gorgeous" target="_blank">BOAF Blog</a>!<br />
<br />
I know, I know... I say it with every kit, but really-- it's TRUE!! The colors, textures and patterns are just gorgeous! Amy has such a fantastic sense of how to put together the papers and embellishments!<br />
<br />
When I first looked at the kit, I thought it was pretty feminine and started thinking of photos of my daughter that I could use. But, then I decided to challenge myself to make a masculine layout. I took a cute photo of my son in the leaves just yesterday. Since he was wearing a bright green shirt, I flipped it to black and white so that it would work with the colors.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEit-qHRad6JuHVKOTYO_L_ic76hcL2_Nd5JSsbXBkJWvVNSQeuJQO0JAbaM6O-E0YGId9keNwLJ_jsEl2CNytWCE_Os2gRIfdBL6w3gj00hB5B1eRWQtjw2kITsbOxa2YW4aQx04hPQDbg/s1600/My+Boy+is+Ten.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEit-qHRad6JuHVKOTYO_L_ic76hcL2_Nd5JSsbXBkJWvVNSQeuJQO0JAbaM6O-E0YGId9keNwLJ_jsEl2CNytWCE_Os2gRIfdBL6w3gj00hB5B1eRWQtjw2kITsbOxa2YW4aQx04hPQDbg/s1600/My+Boy+is+Ten.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<a href="http://api.ning.com/files/OoN9q1jyhUUm8Tn8k2O30I8tbyPMLSCGkW9kzVXv7UKAqHDX585cgckGyyjWNWg-2F926WMy2iKkaXPDTHOPHbAf6Etykw9Z/MyBoyisTen.jpg" target="_self"></a><br />
The background paper, the banner pieces, the date stamp, the glittery stickers and the word "ten" (cut from a 12X12 sheet) are all from the <a href="http://birdsofafeatherkitco.com/category_122/November-2013-Extras.htm" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">November Extras</a>. Amy has fantastic kits but incredible add-ons as well. I can never resist getting all of them!<br />
<br />
I knew that I wanted to add a pop of color in there and by layering two banner pieces together, I was able to get the pop of color I wanted as well as some fun dimension. You can also see the fun date stamp here!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjh3SGqY7RkqIGewcnjUPC1zKdUdSvM40KG4_Smm32h_FWEiuUJG4MVXGFgs2l-DH31thQc2nVvRf0Z6CiWo1z1bwtgvpas04uSFBlY7wEw4ltqWXtNaKVd4YbXi-hw6ZAlZXwJ-hO-36Y/s1600/Ten+Close+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="455" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjh3SGqY7RkqIGewcnjUPC1zKdUdSvM40KG4_Smm32h_FWEiuUJG4MVXGFgs2l-DH31thQc2nVvRf0Z6CiWo1z1bwtgvpas04uSFBlY7wEw4ltqWXtNaKVd4YbXi-hw6ZAlZXwJ-hO-36Y/s640/Ten+Close+2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I had fun creating the title, but I also used the journaling spots from the kit to make a scalloped border along the top of the page for some added interest. Each journal spot is actually a small stack of papers that you peel off one at a time! So, I just cut a few in half and slid them under the paper. I also cut the star out of one of the patterned papers and adhered it with foam tape.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRl59m_er5AtP5NKXZDZJc5a4LdRqTkQoc8OwcdeD8-hVXSDJMpEw-FJlGW2GFJ3nGsAxYWLsC-Cw4__oQ3Q5XV4tzu52zJnmEHXOCyMbuBXsLtrAmNUIsOR-wcboPKX6AYJT09DzICoM/s1600/Ten+Close+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRl59m_er5AtP5NKXZDZJc5a4LdRqTkQoc8OwcdeD8-hVXSDJMpEw-FJlGW2GFJ3nGsAxYWLsC-Cw4__oQ3Q5XV4tzu52zJnmEHXOCyMbuBXsLtrAmNUIsOR-wcboPKX6AYJT09DzICoM/s640/Ten+Close+1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I also made a simple card to share with you today! The "HELLO" was cut from one of the patterned papers with the kit. I added some fun black bling from my stash to make it a little more flashy. I love the way the black and pink really pop!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Here's a project I shared on the <a href="http://www.awdml.com/blog/" target="_blank">AWDML blog</a> last Wednesday!<br />
<br />
I have a super easy and fun Snowman Ornament to share with you today! It would look cute on the front of a card, too!<br />
<br />
Start with a strip of paper about 1 3/4" wide and 12" long. Punch the edge of your strip with a scallop edge punch.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXVHqDN9ANNbrL7FHCE0hhmjZbbXyeivFedCYDBxSautPXEiOLG6HudYXub7yGr4W9rVSKSPvadfEF_IXyHXN5dFm4tdB4Upnqpvz42zS0ndcixCvtJoyJaW4LnySc62bUh885NeKBjvo/s1600/AWDML+Snowman+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="181" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXVHqDN9ANNbrL7FHCE0hhmjZbbXyeivFedCYDBxSautPXEiOLG6HudYXub7yGr4W9rVSKSPvadfEF_IXyHXN5dFm4tdB4Upnqpvz42zS0ndcixCvtJoyJaW4LnySc62bUh885NeKBjvo/s400/AWDML+Snowman+1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />Now, using your scoring board, score the strip at every "indent" in the scallop. If you don't have a scallop punch, score at every 1/4".<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfZlPIFt6gjEPpRLtP-n_amsFY7zQFjicbI5Nl0WzbtgXu8ZjAJIYoS8qOuexLPTgrRWsjiLYLJG4qVmbRhmaK1Q4hs-rjcHq2cjwu_1Bk2qEa-rmGL0jW-QUwOeRBVC9vBiHRK1FDbCc/s1600/AWDML+Snowman+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="160" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfZlPIFt6gjEPpRLtP-n_amsFY7zQFjicbI5Nl0WzbtgXu8ZjAJIYoS8qOuexLPTgrRWsjiLYLJG4qVmbRhmaK1Q4hs-rjcHq2cjwu_1Bk2qEa-rmGL0jW-QUwOeRBVC9vBiHRK1FDbCc/s400/AWDML+Snowman+2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Accoridan fold your strip and punch a circle from a piece of scrap paper.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiqUAq_4fgkNd0vmV5BXgj-MUSxXLyzLUeZQDW3sSyncxvMN4Mj5KPUZc5QGjO14PV4f3EPPS9yz95QgAIMGrUv93jKxHrJLxETfQYOLPYoRpdKkBqDLvmqROyIRxCq6YT4KVqjta6W_I/s1600/AWDML+Snowman+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="290" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiqUAq_4fgkNd0vmV5BXgj-MUSxXLyzLUeZQDW3sSyncxvMN4Mj5KPUZc5QGjO14PV4f3EPPS9yz95QgAIMGrUv93jKxHrJLxETfQYOLPYoRpdKkBqDLvmqROyIRxCq6YT4KVqjta6W_I/s400/AWDML+Snowman+3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: center;">
</div>
Now, glue the ends of your strip together, Press it down in the center to create a rosette and secure with hot glue.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYPDVXgxAHnVH52_R3jKT0jKwqpiiQPqiS1M9s7wDlToiLvB1K_cRLB4ZAhAsTq0WPvgJHrlQ1r9HsxJd2ovmtvAbmANXpjooqIkDVvquXb5jLZ_X2_eHAAari9v-NYpXL_cPQvHhwYJ4/s1600/AWDML+Snowman+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="248" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYPDVXgxAHnVH52_R3jKT0jKwqpiiQPqiS1M9s7wDlToiLvB1K_cRLB4ZAhAsTq0WPvgJHrlQ1r9HsxJd2ovmtvAbmANXpjooqIkDVvquXb5jLZ_X2_eHAAari9v-NYpXL_cPQvHhwYJ4/s320/AWDML+Snowman+4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: center;">
</div>
Now, simply decorate your snowman with a hat, eyes and nose. I decorated the hat with a scrap piece of ric-rac, some punched branches and some paint to make the holly berries. Just a hint-- add the berries at the VERY end of your project. Otherwise, you may end up dragging your hair through it and then trying to fix it (in my case you may repeat the scenario THREE times!). Also, add a piece of twine, ribbon or craft wire to the back of your snowman to hang it from.<br />

Isn't he super cute?!?! One of my favorite parts of this project is that every single piece of paper used was a scrap! The ric-rac and twine were also scraps! I love when you can create something cute with scraps!<br />
<br />
Thanks for stopping by today! I have another cute snowman to share with you soon, so make sure you come back!Nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15316012920981131339noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169625517026210068.post-30018654442905862552013-10-23T14:00:00.000-04:002013-10-23T14:00:01.989-04:00Make a WishHere's a project that I shared on the AWDML Blog last week!<br />
<br />
Happy Scrappy Wednesday, everyone!! And, Happy Birthday to A Walk Down Memory Lane!!<br />
To celebrate this fantasic milestone with AWDML, I have a fun and simple birthday layout to share with you today! To a child, there's nothing like blowing out the candles on your cake and making a wish every year! Today's layout features my son at his birthday last year. His next birthday is in just TWO days! I did a few fun things with this one... take a look!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />

In my title, I mixed up the alphas, which I LOVE to do, but I also added a candle in place of the "I". To make the candle, I simply rolled a strip of paper about 4" long into a tube with a small bit of embroidery thread inside for a wick. Then, just a bit of cardstock cut with a circle cutter for a flame! Isn't it super cute?! You can also see some of the Maya Mists paint splatters-- They remind me of confetti!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

And, I also used a Project Life journaling card for my sub-title! The PL Cards are perfect for this type of use! They are so easy to alter and quick to put together!<br />

I LOVE this kit! It's so beautiful....even more beautiful in person and it's more beautiful every time I play with it! The papers work so beautifully for so many projects-- not just fall ones!<br />
<br />
Today I want to share a layout that I made about our trip to Plimoth Plantation this summer. If you've never been there, it's a living history museum where you get to tour a working Pilgrim settlement where there are people who are completely in character as though you just stepped back into the 17th Century! We had so much fun chatting with everyone and seeing everything! <br />

And here, you can see all of the photos I used! Since I am usually a "one photo" scrapper, it was a challenge for me to use so many photos, but I really like how this "film strip" idea worked!<br />

This chipboard is FANTASTIC! Not only is the design beautiful, but it's sturdy enough to work with it without fear that it's going to fall apart Even though I didn't ink this one, I have used ink on other Blue Fern chipboard, and it takes ink beautifully! Here's a close-up of the title I used! Isn't it gorgeous?</div>

<br />
First of all, I just need to tell you how amazing the <a href="http://birdsofafeatherkitco.com/item_1117/October-2013-Kit.htm" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">October Kit</a> is! Every kit is my favorite... until the next one comes out! The papers, the embellishments, the alphas, the extras.... everything! **sigh** It's just amazing!<br />
<br />
A few weeks ago, I shared a card with a super easy bow and had a few people ask me to share how to make it. Well.... here it is! It's so easy! Not only are these bows great for cards, but I can see them used on layouts, gifts and even wreaths! <br />
<br />
First cut four ovals-- two slightly smaller than the others. I used my oval die set, but you can always make a template with your word processing program, or cut them on your die cutting machine. The bigger the ovals, the bigger your bow will be.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilNV9KuMc5CXRn-TXHQmB9O3U1w0_XeRRuTXYBU7JNptiuY4zGrkp3DEu4HbDyG0HreEx8-EUIrxK9iX6UIWTzeu1fo5foUiSM5LRDxlNAfbqfTXrcJIQ0_pF4pidf_D6kNBgzK3CO-tU/s1600/Oval+Bow+1_edited-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="305" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilNV9KuMc5CXRn-TXHQmB9O3U1w0_XeRRuTXYBU7JNptiuY4zGrkp3DEu4HbDyG0HreEx8-EUIrxK9iX6UIWTzeu1fo5foUiSM5LRDxlNAfbqfTXrcJIQ0_pF4pidf_D6kNBgzK3CO-tU/s400/Oval+Bow+1_edited-1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Now, using a strong adhesive, bend (don't fold) the larger ovals in half and stick the ends together. I used some super sticky glue squares, but hot glue would also work. You could use wet glue if you're more patient than I am.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdcqx7JzdKn_h-y8UvLVE0S_uBBbaI4mLpjY8EgcCLji0cfaO0KzSd4Jt0JJpWp-KSEwW2NSkIflvyWZpEl94TWXD8NJjdroSjpsNqK9TY6ginBUZ4oR8D61KTUuzTyC_7ZpoAgMgp_hE/s1600/Oval+Bow+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdcqx7JzdKn_h-y8UvLVE0S_uBBbaI4mLpjY8EgcCLji0cfaO0KzSd4Jt0JJpWp-KSEwW2NSkIflvyWZpEl94TWXD8NJjdroSjpsNqK9TY6ginBUZ4oR8D61KTUuzTyC_7ZpoAgMgp_hE/s400/Oval+Bow+2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>

Now, cut matching notches in the ends of the two smaller ovals.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Hey there, peeps! Here's a fun tutorial I shared on the AWDML Blog last week!</div>
<br />
Happy Scrappy Wednesday, everyone! Mason Jar crafts are all the rage right now and today I want to share how to make some Mason Jar Lanterns!! This is a great project to involve the kids on, too!<br />
<br />
Check this out!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnuV18hf1SED-_aA1glp2kUt9Vs9q636MEIw8dbzufQ7gDF-lu2-TtamYmf_6Z9vplinGRW_uYk0wh9qdKO9Ypdvke98EkJ8MIFgnjjzL2y6C8-iJOTXiFFzps5CzVOc8rUBejpPPeNgM/s1600/AWDML+Jars+11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnuV18hf1SED-_aA1glp2kUt9Vs9q636MEIw8dbzufQ7gDF-lu2-TtamYmf_6Z9vplinGRW_uYk0wh9qdKO9Ypdvke98EkJ8MIFgnjjzL2y6C8-iJOTXiFFzps5CzVOc8rUBejpPPeNgM/s1600/AWDML+Jars+11.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
First I started with my quart size mason jars, mod-podge and food coloring. You'll also need a plastic spoon and paper plate for each jar you plan to make.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimmrWevithoRQwGZO1TeXf-uQm6WPfzFwusqICksnDGAYubbriRE5VG9kEcm34xs6SYpfgG3XFE0mktbjnHzJt7W2Rn1BW-Us-CQNR8xnOHs-KQskVsvy8VEncuvU6r8yLOE00Iqc_SOM/s1600/AWDML+Mason+Jars+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimmrWevithoRQwGZO1TeXf-uQm6WPfzFwusqICksnDGAYubbriRE5VG9kEcm34xs6SYpfgG3XFE0mktbjnHzJt7W2Rn1BW-Us-CQNR8xnOHs-KQskVsvy8VEncuvU6r8yLOE00Iqc_SOM/s1600/AWDML+Mason+Jars+1.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
First, put about 3/4" of Mod-Podge into the bottom of your jar.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg292/niknik8566/AWDMLJars2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyMqClI9EJH5DnQ8nX8FjYJVcM59zdpx40_o2-lNqqMyWd3Kgpz_ieZLiEvnFz2j3SYypWn90YkeRHY8s8FhBh8wPmUngAIPcRRV-hTAB3C23CrenFWsKiYlbb9yUJ2o4W1LoTNicihx0/s1600/AWDML+Jars+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyMqClI9EJH5DnQ8nX8FjYJVcM59zdpx40_o2-lNqqMyWd3Kgpz_ieZLiEvnFz2j3SYypWn90YkeRHY8s8FhBh8wPmUngAIPcRRV-hTAB3C23CrenFWsKiYlbb9yUJ2o4W1LoTNicihx0/s1600/AWDML+Jars+2.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Now, add your food coloring. To make Orange, we used about 6 drops of red and 6 drops of yellow.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXF_ONosjUn41kiv8IYmc4OVwwzm2nqxijxVUBcI8uuKn8naM2E86NWfjTNKknBHpQKEZSJ3oCkRGlFG8Vdx56PP8TuPClNhduzVPSTY48hBe0sklCZE2HVE5tCkV08dqvcGpLDG2t_UM/s1600/AWDML+Jars+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXF_ONosjUn41kiv8IYmc4OVwwzm2nqxijxVUBcI8uuKn8naM2E86NWfjTNKknBHpQKEZSJ3oCkRGlFG8Vdx56PP8TuPClNhduzVPSTY48hBe0sklCZE2HVE5tCkV08dqvcGpLDG2t_UM/s1600/AWDML+Jars+3.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Use a plastic spoon to stir the food coloring into the Mod-Podge. Keep stirring until it's totally blended. Any streaks left will cause streaks on your jar. The color should be a pastel version of the color you are after. The color will darken up and it will dry in the color of your food coloring since the Mod-Podge turns clear when it dries.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkPFW0W0HUEaduEENWdUrjl7r25CLllz7HVvf7bsMXFqeAlvPp5v4q2DA5jPJQBo1a-C6cIl6BmLmdPE2Nc20zsf8PxAWV9yfdQTjJtVE16l7hMqZV2fOuNWm7DflY8ioyYOqTDiQbZmM/s1600/AWDML+Jars+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkPFW0W0HUEaduEENWdUrjl7r25CLllz7HVvf7bsMXFqeAlvPp5v4q2DA5jPJQBo1a-C6cIl6BmLmdPE2Nc20zsf8PxAWV9yfdQTjJtVE16l7hMqZV2fOuNWm7DflY8ioyYOqTDiQbZmM/s1600/AWDML+Jars+4.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Now, turn your jar on its side and gently roll it back and forth to distribute the colored Mod-Podge evenly throughout the inside of the jar.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5w3mkciWuH2_bjhWdFNK3Uu63b7r-lnDWlUbdRqXIMJ_WYKWxYEdw_fDTZT_Hc4SDTqIfNCDK-2mYYkc3CQHz_CN_q95382NKgA6VLoIIuSLVXPhI0L5_IbzqoovZEDAyXp_8ojcj8j0/s1600/AWDML+Jars+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5w3mkciWuH2_bjhWdFNK3Uu63b7r-lnDWlUbdRqXIMJ_WYKWxYEdw_fDTZT_Hc4SDTqIfNCDK-2mYYkc3CQHz_CN_q95382NKgA6VLoIIuSLVXPhI0L5_IbzqoovZEDAyXp_8ojcj8j0/s1600/AWDML+Jars+5.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Empty out any excess and then turn your jar upside down on a paper plate. I learned that it takes a LONG time to dry this way. And, I ended up putting two chopsticks across my paper plate and setting the jar on top of them so that the air could circulate.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiD_Fl65gtggAx1F2APDWOfFsOqtV0grn4w3Df3fpDPPCnB3jA9fxAOGyB6Dl1zA0oh59E2byhFQtNFdkoUf8YeIhjgR_gsGkrJwcV-wKnO5EFc4OzsB6w2xxpJP1qc32ZbCJZBDR95v4/s1600/AWDML+Jars+6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiD_Fl65gtggAx1F2APDWOfFsOqtV0grn4w3Df3fpDPPCnB3jA9fxAOGyB6Dl1zA0oh59E2byhFQtNFdkoUf8YeIhjgR_gsGkrJwcV-wKnO5EFc4OzsB6w2xxpJP1qc32ZbCJZBDR95v4/s1600/AWDML+Jars+6.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Here's what they look like when they are dry! Isn't that COOL?! OK, I'm not going to lie. The top of the jar is a little messed up because I tried to be impatient and turn them back upright to dry. It didn't work. But, I had a plan on how to cover that up! ;)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjT7esoSauwFJG1kd9Z3fedK_0HfNnAmE45dtD2jMWiKdTGZ0PAPSdIgiWAS_Z_LOhYQlzp4AzFqupKnLPSHgspNqxuOiOR7HqxdEp8IFlkZzPZLfixJ0An6cZ5Tp9QhBQj7NR5cTV8TWQ/s1600/AWDML+Jars+7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjT7esoSauwFJG1kd9Z3fedK_0HfNnAmE45dtD2jMWiKdTGZ0PAPSdIgiWAS_Z_LOhYQlzp4AzFqupKnLPSHgspNqxuOiOR7HqxdEp8IFlkZzPZLfixJ0An6cZ5Tp9QhBQj7NR5cTV8TWQ/s1600/AWDML+Jars+7.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
I decided to turn the orange jar into a jack-o-lantern by adding a pumpkin face to it using black cardstock.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEht747u6A1lZACxidJdGW3JWSwJKFE8HPa2hyhgcKHAyhu0LVPn0C3fBwj1NozK-D0trf0YcNzYjOjqVLkoiCValHjnRtSQv8hnzFm_Tkax08uBMc31U3qwrMo4qIJXLbxn3CnnRpUdTjI/s1600/AWDML+Jars+10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEht747u6A1lZACxidJdGW3JWSwJKFE8HPa2hyhgcKHAyhu0LVPn0C3fBwj1NozK-D0trf0YcNzYjOjqVLkoiCValHjnRtSQv8hnzFm_Tkax08uBMc31U3qwrMo4qIJXLbxn3CnnRpUdTjI/s1600/AWDML+Jars+10.jpg" /></a></div>

The blue jar has a winter theme so, we added snowflakes to the outside.<br />

I think the blue jar would be pretty with a garden/flower theme, too!<br />
<br />
I love how these Mason Jar Lanterns came out and will be using them around our house for seasonal decorations. I can't wait to see what other designs I can come up with! We'd love to see what designs YOU can come up with! Share them on our Facebook page so we can ooh and aah over them!<br />

Here's a post that I shared on the <a href="http://www.awdml.com/blog/" target="_blank">AWDML Blog</a> last week!<br />
<br />
Happy Scrappy Wednesday, everyone!! Today I want to share a layout where my mission was to use the KISS principle (Keep It Simple Stupid!). In other words, I wanted to get the basics on the page with out any added frills.<br />
<br />
My son had the opportunity to try water skiing a few weeks ago. I had a terrible (and painful) experience with my first try at waterskiing and it was a LONG time before I was comfortable to try again. So, I was pretty nervous for him to try it. For his first attempt I was in the boat with my camera at the ready while my uncle and cousin helped him in the water. The boat took off and he came SO close to getting up. He hung on for the longest time and seemed like all he needed to do was stand up. But, alas, he ended up not quite making it. As you may be able to tell from the photos, his lifejacket was too big which may have been part of the issue.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvaBxoYy7yD5fTU0U6-qni6mAr6eX5c8OBw8lEOvPIKUKvYntkx_giq9FdRnE38fxQytZBOdAY3P_KQeMyy_vGOb3NAMDNAZTtVS7P0mfu_pM7BgddZviFNwJ00Lj_ZV9poHsIS_5RLNQ/s1600/AWDML+First+Try.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvaBxoYy7yD5fTU0U6-qni6mAr6eX5c8OBw8lEOvPIKUKvYntkx_giq9FdRnE38fxQytZBOdAY3P_KQeMyy_vGOb3NAMDNAZTtVS7P0mfu_pM7BgddZviFNwJ00Lj_ZV9poHsIS_5RLNQ/s1600/AWDML+First+Try.jpg" /></a></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" data-mce-style="text-align: center;" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You can see that I incorporated several different patterned papers, banner-style cut papers and scalloped edges. I also matted the photos, included a title, the date, the location and the word "proud." I felt that the photos, the title and the small details told the story without needing to add journaling. Then a few simple, subtle lines around the border of the paged helped to tie everything together.</div>
Here's a close up of the photos. I still can't believe how close he got on his first try!<br />
<br />

Just to note: We did change his lifejacket to a better fitting one after this first try and there aren't many more photos since I was in the water helping for the next attempts (my daughter had my camer and enjoyed taking photos of a big dragon fly rather than her brother's attemts at skiing). He held on so long the first time that we were now in the middle of the lake, so I jumped off the side of the boat and helped. Those teenage years as a lifeguard came in handy!<br />

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed my simple layout and are inspired to try a simple one of your own!Nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15316012920981131339noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169625517026210068.post-61455616927261731682013-09-16T17:09:00.000-04:002013-09-16T17:09:00.766-04:00September Kit Sweetness!Here is my post that is on the<a href="http://birdsofafeatherkitco.ning.com/profiles/blog/list" target="_blank"> Birds of a Feather Blog</a> today!<br />
<br />
The <a data-mce-href="http://birdsofafeatherkitco.com/item_1109/September-2013-Kit.htm" href="http://birdsofafeatherkitco.com/item_1109/September-2013-Kit.htm" target="_blank">September kit</a> is SO worth the wait! The colors, the patterns, the embellishments-- everything-- is so fantastically put together! I love that I use things I wouldn't normally choose for myself!<br />
<br />
Today I have two projects to share with you!! First a layout. Not just any layout-- a back to school layout! I really enjoyed cutting into the gorgeous papers and using the fun embellishments like the stitched elements in the top right hand corner and the die-cut arrow from the kit extras! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-mce-href="http://api.ning.com:80/files/2xmvS7IAtKqmMaL3JV0U26UU2nHPFaCwfrYDjXkARr54wiprPvhfrMJ*0qFWfeEeTWn9KhKKSLMShCYAigwJ6Vjx0NsZ7Lvv/BOAFSept6thGrade.jpg" href="http://api.ning.com/files/2xmvS7IAtKqmMaL3JV0U26UU2nHPFaCwfrYDjXkARr54wiprPvhfrMJ*0qFWfeEeTWn9KhKKSLMShCYAigwJ6Vjx0NsZ7Lvv/BOAFSept6thGrade.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_self"><img class="align-center" data-mce-src="http://api.ning.com:80/files/2xmvS7IAtKqmMaL3JV0U26UU2nHPFaCwfrYDjXkARr54wiprPvhfrMJ*0qFWfeEeTWn9KhKKSLMShCYAigwJ6Vjx0NsZ7Lvv/BOAFSept6thGrade.jpg" src="http://api.ning.com/files/2xmvS7IAtKqmMaL3JV0U26UU2nHPFaCwfrYDjXkARr54wiprPvhfrMJ*0qFWfeEeTWn9KhKKSLMShCYAigwJ6Vjx0NsZ7Lvv/BOAFSept6thGrade.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
<br />
Here's a closeup of the tite. I used some chiboard from my stash that I colored with a Copic Marker. Then I added some alphas that I had kicking around and a heart from the package of super fun wood embellishments from the kit extras.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-mce-href="http://api.ning.com:80/files/2xmvS7IAtKpTU-eve1qICBLdX2yv6SQMR0EL2agw4rFB*RNfeAW4oGjA*th0qq-mmeaGDlZLoiinH3ws-Xb9PLkQCoH46jdC/BOAFSept6thGradeClose1.jpg" href="http://api.ning.com/files/2xmvS7IAtKpTU-eve1qICBLdX2yv6SQMR0EL2agw4rFB*RNfeAW4oGjA*th0qq-mmeaGDlZLoiinH3ws-Xb9PLkQCoH46jdC/BOAFSept6thGradeClose1.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_self"><img class="align-center" data-mce-src="http://api.ning.com:80/files/2xmvS7IAtKpTU-eve1qICBLdX2yv6SQMR0EL2agw4rFB*RNfeAW4oGjA*th0qq-mmeaGDlZLoiinH3ws-Xb9PLkQCoH46jdC/BOAFSept6thGradeClose1.jpg?width=600" src="http://api.ning.com/files/2xmvS7IAtKpTU-eve1qICBLdX2yv6SQMR0EL2agw4rFB*RNfeAW4oGjA*th0qq-mmeaGDlZLoiinH3ws-Xb9PLkQCoH46jdC/BOAFSept6thGradeClose1.jpg?width=600" width="600" /></a></div>
<br />
The kit has some beautiful flowers that have lots of great ways to layer them together. For my flower center, I used the flower from the one of the clips in the kit. I think it worked perfectly together!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-mce-href="http://api.ning.com:80/files/2xmvS7IAtKoJNNkC-ElpSSSEp2C6NR3ET9lPW-sb1tMaOMuDFoFhOQ7PK6flW96a5aLxzIqLvrY4in5tSwPw1O0sr7dnZTgv/BOAFSept6thgradeclose2.jpg" href="http://api.ning.com/files/2xmvS7IAtKoJNNkC-ElpSSSEp2C6NR3ET9lPW-sb1tMaOMuDFoFhOQ7PK6flW96a5aLxzIqLvrY4in5tSwPw1O0sr7dnZTgv/BOAFSept6thgradeclose2.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_self"><img class="align-center" data-mce-src="http://api.ning.com:80/files/2xmvS7IAtKoJNNkC-ElpSSSEp2C6NR3ET9lPW-sb1tMaOMuDFoFhOQ7PK6flW96a5aLxzIqLvrY4in5tSwPw1O0sr7dnZTgv/BOAFSept6thgradeclose2.jpg" src="http://api.ning.com/files/2xmvS7IAtKoJNNkC-ElpSSSEp2C6NR3ET9lPW-sb1tMaOMuDFoFhOQ7PK6flW96a5aLxzIqLvrY4in5tSwPw1O0sr7dnZTgv/BOAFSept6thgradeclose2.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
<br />
I also made a card that is made mostly from the paper in the kit extras. I couldn't resist this amazingly gorgeous Authentique patterned paper and the die-cut was perfect for stamping on my sentiment. The bow was made using oval dies! Maybe I'll have to share a tutorial on how to do it!<br />

<br />
This weekend, I was scrapping some photos that I took last weekend at our long-overdue family reunion and decided to challenge myself to do two things: use a busy background and use something that I've had in my stash for more than 6 months. And, I was able to accomplish both goals! Mostly I want to share how I tamed the busy background paper.<br />
<br />
First of all, busy background paper is always a challenge for me. I tend to shy away from it and choose cardstock or cute little patterns. In order to tackle this paper, I decided to create some neutral space in the middle where I would concentrate the majority of my layout. I essentially created a layout that is roughly 8"X8" and put that in the middle of the background paper. I also used a photo that was a slightly contrasting color pallete to the paper line so that it wouldn't be lost on the page. I think it was relatively successful!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj44EeLoGlJARD9HLbJ3oMFz98A_gBFeJu-mUh2mNRAd7S-XbUU2Hp4LxZ4PW8TWmY4G7CDOE17bq7MvHNy0n8g7NsolGYPaUKNyPCdkoe1GPANZSauClNR-XvWba7e96MmsANuqMMdQCc/s1600/AWDML+Screamin+Summer+Fun.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj44EeLoGlJARD9HLbJ3oMFz98A_gBFeJu-mUh2mNRAd7S-XbUU2Hp4LxZ4PW8TWmY4G7CDOE17bq7MvHNy0n8g7NsolGYPaUKNyPCdkoe1GPANZSauClNR-XvWba7e96MmsANuqMMdQCc/s1600/AWDML+Screamin+Summer+Fun.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Here's a look at the title strips I made with a label maker and some of the fun elements I added from the sticker sheet that matches the line of paper!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjumN05U_fAkHryYqpbfmArn6ldokXDLYbfcMnPXspzh6tQj_2ufOOFRvlU5e7AezvBKmRuALBevsR9hco9fYKQOysiINJOP1kkz0ApZJ-Mw4dAdrl3MQTrNxpBtUIgANpj2OLCuKdIoCM/s1600/AWDML+Screamin+Close.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="483" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjumN05U_fAkHryYqpbfmArn6ldokXDLYbfcMnPXspzh6tQj_2ufOOFRvlU5e7AezvBKmRuALBevsR9hco9fYKQOysiINJOP1kkz0ApZJ-Mw4dAdrl3MQTrNxpBtUIgANpj2OLCuKdIoCM/s640/AWDML+Screamin+Close.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
And, here's a peek at the title work. I love to create mixed up titles! The word "summer" is from the sticker elements sheet and then I just added some Thickers around it to create the title.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFBodOmKM0Uu2k9Cz4pBgtQxexhNZcL1YlBWmy6I2qCwfwjxr8haxA-qf9wMAnlZV2rMXufjJywYrf8U9vN4ql-VBOaVKgFqO5wqPBcWPVNP8TuHT-VLqBesKryHcGUd4bAVeesplqgc8/s1600/AWDML+Screamin+Close+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="432" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFBodOmKM0Uu2k9Cz4pBgtQxexhNZcL1YlBWmy6I2qCwfwjxr8haxA-qf9wMAnlZV2rMXufjJywYrf8U9vN4ql-VBOaVKgFqO5wqPBcWPVNP8TuHT-VLqBesKryHcGUd4bAVeesplqgc8/s640/AWDML+Screamin+Close+2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I hope you enjoyed this layout today and that you feel a little more comfortable tackling a busy background paper!<br />
<br />
